Vien Dining

We had a truly memorable dinner for two at Vien, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. The “Trăm Nghề” tasting menu beautifully reinterprets Vietnamese ingredients and culinary traditions through a modern, creative lens. Each course felt carefully composed, with distinctive flavors, elegant presentation, and a clear story connecting the dish to Vietnam’s regional heritage. The amuse-bouches were a delightful beginning, especially the unexpected combinations of familiar local ingredients. Among the highlights were the red prawn with gourd and Malabar spinach, the Wagyu heart with Northwestern pollen and apricot Béarnaise, and the exceptionally tender beef cheek. The desserts and petits fours were equally imaginative and brought the journey to a satisfying finish. We also appreciated the thoughtfully designed pairing options; the drinks complemented the food rather than overpowering it. What made the evening especially enjoyable was the warm, attentive, and well-paced service. Every dish was introduced clearly, allowing us to better understand the ingredients, techniques, and inspiration behind it. The atmosphere was refined yet comfortable, making it perfect for a special dinner as a couple. Vien offers more than an excellent meal—it is a thoughtful celebration of Vietnamese craftsmanship and identity. We left impressed, happy, and genuinely excited to return on our next visit to Hanoi.
We had the ala carte menu as we been binge eating in Hanoi n was too full to hv a go at their tasting menu but honestly it’s still worth it. Wasn’t that impressed with their croquettes especially the frog croquette as ain’t a fan of bamboo shoots n the fermented scent was too much for me. Appetiser we had the corn kennels with tiger prawn, n it’s within expectations how the fish would turn out. The beef claypot rice was perfect with the crunch and the herbs sauce pairing. Duck was done very well, only pity was that it’s quite lean but still enjoyed it.
The food was good! But some of the flavors were a bit too strong? Like the rice wine in the chawanmushi, the coffee sauce with the pigeon and the garlic in the dessert dumpling. Other than that the other dishes were good especially the blue crab and the banh nham with scallops! The service was really good, they’re very friendly and approachable. The place is clean and relaxing
Our server (Mary) provided outstanding service with professionalism, explaining concept of dishes and ingredients used. Dishes provided a taste of Vietnam with a modern twist incorporating Japanese and French elements. The most outstanding dish was the scallop (Bánh Nậm, Sò Điệp, Trứng Cá Hồi Banh Nam, Scallop, Salmon Roe). Good value for money, strongly recommend to try the non alcoholic drinks pairing! Pleasantly surprised with the flavors! Overall a great fine dining experience with good service and atmosphere!
looking for a casual fine dinning place and their lunch tasting menu caught my eye a reasonable price tag. very cozy and comfortable environment. service is very attentive. nothing to complain about. i have to say every dish is delicious. from presentation to taste, i can identify each flavour from the menu described and every bit is enjoyable. the whole dinning journey is very satisfying and i’m actually very full. my favorite probably be amberjack with tomato and peanut cream. the dry aged pigeon is well made also, with crispy skin and very juicy and tender meat. i will definitely come back when i’m town again! if you are looking to pamper yourself with some tasty exploration on contemporary vietnamese, check out this place!
