The food was absolutely delicious, so it's no surprise this place has earned a Michelin Guide recommendation. Ms.Thuy Hien was wonderful, she explained the menu clearly and gave great recommendations. She was also very attentive, always noticing if I needed anything and checking in throughout my meal. Since I was dining alone, she even kindly offered to take some photos for me, which I really appreciated. It was such a lovely experience, and I'll definitely be coming back!
The snail and pork belly soup was so good! It had plantains, tofu, snails, and pork belly. The dish was a little complicated but so well executed. Other than that, Muong chicken was also delicious. Very unique flavor. When we were there, some boisterous customers were blasting music which was annoying.
Tried Hà Thành Mansion since it’s on the Michelin Guide, so of course we had to check it out. Honestly… it was just okay. Nothing special. Food was pretty underwhelming for the price. It’s definitely on the expensive side, and it didn’t really match the quality we expected. One dish that stood out (in a not-so-good way) was the tiger prawns, literally 5 small pieces for around 1M+ VND, which felt way overpriced. Drinks were also quite bland, nothing memorable at all. Service was a bit challenging too, only one staff could speak English, so ordering and asking questions took a bit of effort. Also, small thing but kinda disappointing, I saw a review from last year mentioning a leaking AC, and funny enough, it’s still an issue now. We experienced it ourselves, so clearly it hasn’t been fixed. They also have a service charge and an extra fee for card payments, which is pretty normal nowadays, but I think it would be better if they gave a heads up about the card fee in advance. The place itself is nice, but overall, the experience didn’t live up to the hype (or the price tag). I’d probably rate it around 3/5. Came for the Michelin name, but wouldn’t really go back.
Nice villa. Staff were courteous. pomelo salad exquisite. Green pepper pork delicious. Galangal pork was a letdown : chewy skin and bones. Jasmin Rice on the house but wish it wasn’t so gummy. Overall not bad. Maybe other dishes would hit better.
