Nature & Wildlife Tours in Hanoi

If you’re in Hanoi and itching for some fresh air outside the city buzz, there are some great spots to reconnect with nature and see local wildlife. You don’t have to trek far either,places like Ba Vi National Park offer quiet trails away from the tourist crowds, with chances to spot wild birds and ancient trees. I always recommend going early morning when the mist still hugs the hills and the air smells just right.

Then there’s the scenic Thang Long Water Puppet Theater’s nearby areas, where you can combine a cultural visit with a stroll around Red River’s greener edges, sometimes catching fishermen at work or curious waterbirds. And don’t sleep on the lesser-known Van Long Nature Reserve just outside Hanoi. It’s calmer than Tam Coc and has stunning limestone karsts mirrored in the water, plus red-headed cranes if you’re lucky.

A little tip: if you want a day hike with real local flavor, try a guided trip up to the Pu Luong Nature Reserve a few hours south of Hanoi. It’s remote, great for spotting endemic animals, and the rice terraces are insane during harvest season (late Sept to early Oct). Pack light but bring plenty of water and bug spray,you don’t want a memorable wildlife encounter for the wrong reasons!
