Be warned though, it gets busy around lunch , people know what’s good! For something a bit different, check out Loving Hut in Tay Ho; it’s a chain but consistently tasty and fresh, especially their vegan pho, which locals and expats both love.

A quick tip: many places won’t speak much English, but if you say 'ăn chay' (vegetarian) they get what you mean. Also, season matters , in the rainy months, soups and hotpots shine, while the dry winter mornings? Perfect for a freshly made banh mi chay from a street cart.
