Food not as nice as described and the portion of each dish was too big. Couldn’t finish but suitable for big family or group size. Beside, the cleanliness was not up to expectations, bowl was dirty and wood chopsticks was not replaced for frequently used also matched with different sizes. Suggestion to use stainless steel chopsticks. See pictures
A Must-Visit Dining Experience in Hanoi – Exceptional in Every Way Madame Hiên is truly a five-star dining experience from start to finish. The staff are incredibly welcoming, attentive, kind, and genuinely helpful, offering thoughtful recommendations that elevate the entire meal. The food is absolutely delicious—rich in flavor with unique and beautifully presented options that showcase the best of Vietnamese cuisine. The setting is equally special, with a stunning historic building and decor that create a warm, elegant atmosphere (and even smells amazing the moment you walk in!). We loved the thoughtful touches, like the palate cleanser before the meal and the digestive spice offered after dinner—details that make the experience feel extra refined and memorable. Every member of the staff made us feel so welcome, and the entire evening was simply a joy. The manager was exceptional! This is absolutely a place we would return to again and again—a true must-visit in Hanoi!
Chef Didier & his team are hospitality at its finest. The warm interiors that greet guests from the moment you walk in have a charming character that made us feel excited for the culinary journey that’s to come. The ALC menu is extensive, and the venue also offers Tasting Menus for those who’d like to experience Chef Didier’s creations without too much thought. We went for the Signature Tasting menu. Although everything was absolutely delicious, I would say the appetiser platter was my favourite, offering around 6 to 7 dishes. I would recommend going for the signature tasting menu, and for the dessert trying out their three kinds of cake and ice cream, all home-made. The cinnamon ice cream was the star. We got a special chance to see the behind-the-scenes in the kitchen, as well as the top floor on a busy night. Their 2nd floor is a great escape in Hanoi for a private celebratory dinner. The venue also offers the experience to see, and take home, spices made by Chef Didier himself. Their star anise and maki (a mix of salt, star anise and pepper) are great to use with home cooking. We are glad we got the chance to have this meal, and feel first hand Chef Didier’s magic. We will be back!
We ate here three times. Lunch and two dinners. We found that the consistency of the food was different each time. We ordered some of the same dishes. Out of the three times the meal on the Saturday evening was fantastic 👌🏼the other times meh. The service was good. The atmosphere was very nice. They need to work on the consistency of their dishes.
We have eten here twice, very attentive service not only from the French owner, but also his wife and son and staff. Very good Vietnamese food, street food to a touch of French cuisines. I am not keen on the menu dishes but the other courses are amazing. You can taste directly that they don’t add a lot of MSG in the food.
