Description

Explore the picturesque Mai Chau Valley on a 3-day trip from Hanoi. Discover the natural beauty of the valley, immerse yourself in local culture, and experience outdoor activities and visiting traditional villages. Day 1: Depart from Hanoi and travel to Mai Chau. Upon arrival, check into your homestay - a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture and lifestyle. After settling in, take a relaxing walk or bike ride around the Mai Chau Valley. This area is known for its lush, terraced rice fields, rolling hills, and tranquil atmosphere. Take your time to enjoy the natural beauty of the valley. Explore the local villages, particularly Poom Coong and Bao La, to see traditional Thai stilt houses. Learn about the White Thai people, their culture, and their way of life. Have dinner with a local family with traditional meals such as sticky rice, grilled fish, wild vegetables, and pork. Some places even provide a traditional dance performance or music, offering you a deeper insight into Thai culture. Day 2: Trekking Adventure After breakfast, set out for a trek through the hills and rice terraces surrounding Mai Chau. Your guide will take you through remote villages like Xam Khoe and Cao Son. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the valley and surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, visit Lac Village, one of the most well-known villages in Mai Chau. The village is known for its beautiful traditional houses made of bamboo and wooden stilt. The locals often sell handmade goods like embroidered fabric, woven baskets, and silver jewelry. This is a great place to buy souvenirs and support the local community. After your village tour, head to the Mai Chau Viewpoint (on the way to the Lac Village) to get an aerial view of the entire valley. It’s a great spot for photography, especially during the late afternoon when the light is softer. In the evening, relax with a traditional meal at homestay. Many places offer a cultural performance with local music and dance. You might even be invited to participate, learning a few steps of the traditional Thai dances. Day 3: Waterfalls, and Natural Exploration Explore more of Mai Chau’s beautiful countryside. Cycling through the valley is an excellent way to experience the beauty of rice fields, rivers, and the lush mountains surrounding the area. You can bike to Chieng Chau village or other nearby areas. It's a peaceful and scenic ride that will give you a deeper connection to the landscape. After lunch, head to the Ngoi Hoa Waterfall (about 12 km from Mai Chau town). This peaceful, picturesque waterfall is surrounded by dense jungle and offers a serene atmosphere. If you're up for it, you can take a refreshing dip in the water or simply relax by the waterfall. After visiting the waterfall, take some time to relax in nature. There are plenty of spots in Mai Chau to unwind, whether by a river or in a hammock with mountain views. Around 4pm, leave Mai Chau and head back to Hanoi.
