Description
Embark on a thrilling 3-day motorbike adventure through Ha Giang, Vietnam’s northernmost province, where breathtaking mountain passes, ethnic villages, and spectacular landscapes await. Ride along the legendary Happiness Road, conquer the Ma Pi Leng Pass, and immerse yourself in the rich culture of the hill tribes for an unforgettable journey of discovery.
Day 1: Ha Giang – Quan Ba – Dong Van (135 km)
After breakfast, we take the “Happiness Road” and start driving north out of Ha Giang City. We climb the Quan Ba Bac Sum Pass and enter the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. At Quan Ba Heaven Gate, we admire panoramic views of majestic mountains and terraced rice fields from the mountain observatory.
Passing Fairy Hill, we continue to Yen Minh, riding through pine-covered passes and scenic terraces. We stop for lunch here before heading to the winding Tham Ma Pass on National Highway 4C. Arriving in Sa Phin, we visit the hundred-year-old palace of Vuong Chinh Duc, the King of the H’mong.
We continue to Dong Van Town, stop by the ancient quarter, and hike to the top of the mountain to explore the old French fortress. In the evening, we stay at a local ethnic minority homestay, enjoying dinner and breakfast with our host family.
Day 2: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Du Gia (120 km)
We say goodbye to our hosts and visit Dong Van Market, located in the heart of the ancient town — the largest cultural and trading hub of the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
After experiencing the market’s lively atmosphere, we continue our journey through some of the most majestic mountain passes in Vietnam. We conquer the “Cliff of Death” and then ride along the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass — one of the four greatest mountain passes in Vietnam.
We stop for lunch in Mau Due before continuing through rocky mountain roads, pausing to admire the wild natural beauty of the northern highlands. By afternoon, we reach the picturesque Du Gia Village, home to a stunning waterfall hidden deep within emerald forests.
We stay overnight at an ethnic minority homestay, sharing dinner and breakfast with our welcoming hosts.
Day 3: Du Gia – Thuan Hoa – Ha Giang (100 km)
After breakfast, we begin our ride southward, saying farewell to Du Gia. The journey winds through soaring mountains, the wide fields of Duong Thuong Valley, and several dramatic passes — both high and narrow.
The route from Duong Thuong to Thuan Hoa offers breathtaking scenery, following the Song Lo Valley back toward Ha Giang City.
