Description
Opening Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Step into the peaceful world of Mộc Thôn, a rooftop woodcarving workshop hidden within the quiet backstreets of Hanoi. This is not just a class - it’s a slow living experience where culture, craft, and calm meet.
Your journey begins in a charming residential neighborhood. As you walk through narrow alleys lined with banana trees, vintage scooters, and tangled power lines, your host will guide you into a different pace of life - one that honors simplicity and presence.
At the studio, you’ll first explore a small exhibition space that shares the story behind Mộc Thôn: a movement of mindful creation, connection with natural materials, and celebration of Vietnamese craftsmanship. You'll be invited to share your own story too because every piece starts from you.
Next, you’ll choose from beautiful blocks of wood like jackfruit, rosewood, acacia, or aged driftwood,, each with its own scent, grain, and feel. Learn about Vietnam’s traditional craft villages like Đong Ky and Chang Son, and hear the folklore behind the tools and timber. (Please note: if your chosen wood block exceeds 520,000đ, a surcharge will apply for the price difference.)
With guidance, you’ll begin shaping your piece - a spoon, keychain, bookmark, coaster, or whatever your heart desires. Using chisels, sandpaper, and beeswax, you’ll bring your idea to life, one detail at a time. No prior experience is needed, and you’ll have all the time you want.
As you carve, you’ll enjoy local tea, a peaceful instrumental playlist, and quiet moments for reflection. When your piece is ready, you’ll personalize it, package it in a handmade cloth bag, and write a small note to yourself, to a loved one, or to a future guest.
Before leaving, you’ll receive a small follow-up gift and an invitation to continue your story with us online or through other experiences.
This is a space for creativity, healing, and presence. Come with curiosity, and leave with a piece of Hanoi made by your own hands.
