Description
This 4-day journey takes you deep into Northern Vietnam’s countryside, where travel slows down and daily life becomes the highlight. Combining cycling, trekking, hands-on cultural activities, and gentle nature exploration, this experience is designed for travelers who want more than sightseeing.
From the quiet villages of Mai Chau, through the forested valleys of Pu Luong Nature Reserve, to the historic landscapes of Ninh Binh, each day offers a different way to connect with local culture, food, and nature.
Arrival in the Valleys
Depart Hanoi in the early morning and travel toward the peaceful landscapes of Mai Chau. After enjoying a home-style meal in a traditional stilt house, explore the valley at a relaxed pace by bicycle. Ride past rice paddies and White Thai villages, stop at a local weaving home, and continue with a short uphill walk to a panoramic cave viewpoint. Later in the day, travel onward to Pu Luong for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by forested hills.
Life in Pu Luong Nature Reserve
Begin the day with walks through terraced fields and small villages. Visit a family silk-weaving house and observe wooden waterwheels still used in daily farming. Continue on foot to Cham Stream, where a bamboo raft carries you gently along the river while lunch is served onboard. In the afternoon, choose between unwinding at a waterfall or joining a countryside trek to a remote village and cave before returning to your lodge.
Hands-On Rural Experiences & Transfer
Spend the morning cycling through village paths, cooking with local families, and enjoying a short buffalo cart ride. After lunch, leave the mountains behind and head toward Ninh Binh, arriving in time to relax at your accommodation.
History and Limestone Landscapes
Discover Vietnam’s ancient capital at Hoa Lu, climb to the viewpoint at Mua Cave, and cruise through the waterways and caves of Trang An before returning to Hanoi.
