Description

Hanoi: Cooking Class, Cyclo Ride & Tonkin Show

Discover Vietnamese food and Northern Vietnam’s cultural heritage through a hands-on cooking class and an evening cultural performance.

Begin your cooking experience with a 45-minute cyclo ride through Hanoi to a local market. Explore fresh ingredients used in Vietnamese cuisine and experience the atmosphere of a traditional market, with the opportunity to try local street food such as Banh ran (Glutinous rice balls).

Return to the restaurant at around 10:30 a.m. for a hands-on cooking class led by a local chef with more than 20 years of experience in Vietnamese cuisine. Learn to prepare four traditional dishes: Goi Cuon (summer rolls), Banh Cuon (steamed rice rolls), Goi Du Du Com Vong (green papaya salad with green rice flakes), and Ca Kho To (braised fish in a clay pot). After the class, enjoy the meal you have prepared.

You’ll have free time after the cooking class until 4:30 p.m., when a private car will pick you up from the restaurant and take you to The Quintessence of Tonkin show.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., you’ll have time to explore the Traditional rural fair, where you can discover local culture, traditional crafts, and authentic Vietnamese village life.

At 7:30 p.m., the Quintessence of Tonkin show begins. Set in a scenic outdoor venue near Hanoi, the show brings Vietnamese culture and traditions to life through a spectacular combination of water puppetry, traditional music, folk performances, and impressive visual effects. Performed on a water stage with a mountain backdrop, it tells stories of rural life, local customs, and the cultural heritage of Northern Vietnam.

The show will end at around 8:45 p.m. After the performance, your private car will take you back to your accommodation in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, arriving at approximately 9:30 p.m.
