Description
DAY 1: HANOI – HUA TAT H'MONG VILLAGE
8:00 a.m.: Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi's Old Quarter and transfer to the H'mong village of Hua Tat, a true jewel of H'mong heritage, where ancestral traditions are still alive and community-based tourism has developed while respecting the authenticity of this village of 175 households.
Lunch with a local family. Your immersion in H'mong culture begins in the afternoon. Depending on the availability of the villagers, here are some of the activities you can enjoy:
• Discover the secrets of traditional paper making.
• The art of drawing with beeswax. Participate in the creation of beautiful paintings under the guidance of local residents.
• Indigo dyeing
In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the tea plantations. In the minds of the Vietnamese, Moc Chau - Son La green tea is the most popular. After a small tasting of very concentrated green tea to get into the spirit of the region, we begin to explore the tea gardens. In this region, the picking is done exclusively by women, due to their dexterity. The difficult work explains why some older women have deformed hands and broken backs from staying bent over. With the help of the workers, you will learn the techniques of tea picking. Then you will discover the process of drying the tea and sorting the leaves. In Moc Chau - Son La, most of the farms are family-run. Each family picks and processes its own tea leaves using simple equipment. All members of the family participate in the different stages of tea processing.
In the evening, you will help prepare dinner with your host family.
Dinner and overnight stay with a local family.
