Description
Day 1: Hanoi – Cao Bang – Pac Bo
Your journey begins early in the morning as you leave Hanoi Old Quarter for Cao Bang, traveling along the scenic Lang Son highway.
After lunch in Cao Bang City, continue to the historic Pac Bo site, one of the most meaningful revolutionary landmarks in Vietnam. This was where President Ho Chi Minh returned and lived and worked during the years 1941–1945. Explore the peaceful Le Nin Stream, visit Coc Bo Cave, and see the Km0 marker of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, an important symbol of Vietnamese history.
In the evening, return to Cao Bang City for dinner and hotel check-in. The rest of the evening is at your leisure to relax or explore the local city atmosphere.
Day 2: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Nguom Ngao Cave – Ba Be Lake
After breakfast, depart Cao Bang and journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Cao Bang Global Geopark, one of northern Vietnam’s most spectacular regions. On the way, admire the scenic beauty of Ma Phuc Pass, famous for its winding mountain roads and dramatic limestone peaks.
Arrive at the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of the most impressive natural wonders in Vietnam and one of the largest border waterfalls in the world. Surrounded by lush mountains and rice fields, this is the highlight of the day and one of the most unforgettable sights in northeastern Vietnam.
Continue to Nguom Ngao Cave, a remarkable limestone cave filled with extraordinary stalactites and stalagmites shaped over millions of years. Then visit Khuoi Ky Stone Village, a charming 400-year-old Tay ethnic village known for its rare stone stilt houses and peaceful rural setting.
After lunch, depart for Ba Be Lake. On the way, stop at Phuc Sen Blacksmith Village, where local artisans continue the long-standing tradition of forging handmade knives and agricultural tools.
By late afternoon, arrive at Pac Ngoi Village by Ba Be Lake and check in at a traditional Tay homestay. Surrounded by mountains, rice fields, and lakeside tranquility, this is a wonderful place to experience local culture and hospitality. In the evening, you may choose to enjoy a traditional music performance by the Tay ethnic community at your own expense.
Day 3: Ba Be Lake – Hanoi
Wake up to the peaceful atmosphere of Ba Be and enjoy breakfast at the homestay before beginning the day’s highlight: a boat trip across Ba Be Lake, one of Vietnam’s largest natural freshwater lakes and the heart of Ba Be National Park.
Cruise through calm emerald waters surrounded by limestone mountains and forested cliffs. During the boat journey, visit Fairy Pond, a quiet and enchanting lake hidden among the mountains. Continue to An Ma Temple, a small lakeside temple with deep spiritual and legendary significance. You will also pass Widow Island (Đảo Bà Góa), which is closely connected to the local legend about the origin of Ba Be Lake.
After the boat trip, return to the homestay for lunch and check-out.
In the afternoon, depart for Hanoi, about 6:30PM
