Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Châu Valley – Pu Luồng Nature Reserve **Distance:** ~160 km | **Meals:** Lunch, Dinner Depart Hanoi in the morning and enjoy a scenic drive through winding mountain passes and rural countryside. Stop along the way to stretch your legs and take in panoramic views of the Mai Châu Valley from above. Arrive in Mai Châu, home to the White Thai ethnic minority, where traditional stilt houses sit amid lush rice paddies framed by limestone mountains. After lunch at a local home or restaurant, begin exploring the valley by bicycle, riding along peaceful village lanes that pass bamboo groves, water buffalo fields, and daily rural life. Visit a traditional brocade weaving workshop, where local women preserve age-old textile techniques using hand looms and natural dyes. Continue to explore a nearby limestone cave, hidden within the karst hills, offering cool air and sweeping views over the valley below. In the late afternoon, leave Mai Châu and travel deeper into the mountains toward Pu Luồng Nature Reserve. Arrive at your eco-lodge or mountain retreat surrounded by jungle and terraced fields. Enjoy a freshly prepared local dinner, followed by a peaceful evening under the stars, with the sounds of nature all around. Day 2: Pu Luồng Nature Reserve – Hanoi Trekking distance:** 6–8 km (easy to moderate) | **Meals:** Breakfast, Lunch Wake up to misty valleys and birdsong. After breakfast, begin a guided trek through the heart of Pu Luồng Nature Reserve, one of northern Vietnam’s most pristine and less-visited landscapes. Walk along narrow trails winding through rice terraces, forested hills, and remote villages untouched by mass tourism. Reach Lan Village, where you’ll meet Thai ethnic families and observe traditional silk weaving passed down through generations. Continue downhill toward Chieng Lau Village, famous for its impressive ancient wooden waterwheels, ingeniously designed to channel river water into irrigation systems for farming. From here, enjoy a truly unique experience: board a bamboo raft on Cham Stream. Drift gently along the water beneath dense jungle canopy, soaking in the cool air and peaceful surroundings.
