This bar is a bit tricky to find, down the alley, but when you do you won’t regret it. They have a great selection of wines, vinyl playing, a smoking room, and cute decor. This would be a great spot to rent out for a party or event. Very intimate and incredible staff.
There are a bunch of wine bars around the area but Wong is where you'll want to spend your evening at. Provided you find where it is, first. Even with Maps, it took me a few wrong turns into the wrong alleys and houses before I found Wong. Once I got into the bar, I settled quickly into a seat and ordered their Pinot Noir. I had a few more glasses while watching projections of retrospectives into the Wong Kar-Wai films and talking with their sommelier, Oanh. It is must-visit for fans of the films, the director, and the aesthetic. But even if you're not, you'll still want to visit Wong if you're looking for wine, new friends, or just a place to while away an evening in Hanoi. I went for all three and can't wait to go back.
Compact place but a hidden gem if you want to get away from the noise
Don’t come if you’re looking for a noisy place to hang out with friends. Come if you’re seeking a moment of self-reflection. Come with your diary, your notebook, your sketchbook. Come with a story, or come to listen to one. Come with a loved one, or come with a stranger. Come if you want to be carried from the bustling city into a timeless capsule.
As a big Wong Kar wai fan, this place was high on my list and it didn’t disappoint. The small, cozy bar is tucked away in an alley (easier to find than you’d expect), and it genuinely captures the atmosphere of WKW’s films. The owner designed it that way, and you can feel it the moment you walk in. I had a great time chatting with him. The wine was good, but honestly, it’s the vibe that makes this place special. One of those rare hidden spots that’s truly worth seeking out.
