Popped in after seeing it being Michelin recommended. Team came across as a little novice, and we were seated at the counter which, when guests heading to the upper floor passed by, would constantly brush against us. Our server was quite earnest in trying to please, although you could see that she had to singly ‘manage her zone’ - yet there were many hovering around the kitchen area and made no effort to engage. Had 4 dishes - Crab cakes - Well fried, but the filling was mushy. Sous vide prawns - Prawns were a little deflated and chewy. Ravioli - Possibly the best dish. Angus beef - Tasted good, but overall made no impression.
Don’t let the "wine bar" label fool you—the kitchen at Màu is performing at a Michelin-star level. I’m honestly shocked they don’t have one yet. The roasted duck was an absolute revelation; it literally melted in my mouth. And the rolls...Lord, have mercy. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is top-tier. I loved the personal touch of writing a message on a wine bottle for them to display. I need this exact concept in Houston ASAP. Do yourself a favor and just go. Thank me later!
It is one of my favorite restaurants and bistros in town. Màu Bistro is decorated in a simple yet elegant style, making it ideal for a dinner date. I have returned to Màu twice and tried different menus each time. The food is a creative fusion based on Vietnamese cuisine, with nice presentation and careful preparation. Even though I’m a picky eater, I really enjoy the rich and well-defined flavors. The staff are attentive and provide good service. Although the prices are on the higher side, it is definitely worth the money.
This place is all about fun casual dining, tasty food that hits the spot, a cheerful and relaxed vibe, and super friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Don’t miss the second floor: the view of the Van Mieu is absolutely gorgeous and adds a magical touch to the whole experience.
