Description

Begin your journey by strolling through the village’s narrow alleys and smooth blue stone paths. Immerse yourself in the peaceful ambiance as you explore the century-old houses, which continue to provide shelter for local residents. These well-preserved dwellings offer a window into the past, allowing you to step back in time and experience the essence of a bygone era. Next, visit the village well, a bustling market and gathering place for locals. Learn about the lifestyle of the people here as you stand under the cool shade of the banyan tree. The well has a special feature: its mouth is as wide as a pond, with stairs leading down to the water. Continue your exploration with a visit to the ancient Cuu village gate, considered by many to be the most beautiful village gate in Vietnam. The gate is built in the style of a scroll, like a giant book opening to welcome guests. The watchtower with a tiled roof, high eaves, and two pairs of unicorns and guard dogs, although chipped, still retain their beauty, showcasing the majesty of a prosperous village. Then, visit Phuc Due Pagoda, a sacred site in Cuu Village. According to local people, anyone who has any difficulties coming to the pagoda to pray is often very effective. Therefore, the pagoda is named Phuc Due or Phuc Nhue, meaning that Buddha always blesses people like the water of the Nhue River. This is a place to show love and also a place to preserve the sacred and beautiful spiritual culture of the people of Cuu Village. Head to the charming Quang Phu Cau Incense Village, a visual delight for photography enthusiasts. Immerse yourself in the rich history of this centuries-old craft and engage in enriching conversations with locals to learn more about the evolution of their trade. Meet skilled local artisans, exchange insights into their crafts, discover family traditions, and delve into the cultural heritage of these rural communities. Finally, visit Dau Pagoda, a famous historical site in Hanoi’s outlying district of Thuong Tin, which houses the embalmed bodies of two monks, Vu Khac Truong and Vu Khac Minh. Situated on a hill in the middle of the field at Gia Phuc village in Thuong Tin district’s Nguyen Trai commune, the pagoda is covered with luxuriant trees and surrounded with lakes and the Nhue River flowing behind, forming a picturesque landscape. The pagoda was the object of great care in the feudal dynasties of Vietnam, and has been repaired and upgraded many times. The stele, erected in the year Duong Hoa 5th (1639) of Le Than Tong and preserved in the pagoda reports that the Dau pagoda was constructed under the Ly Dynasty, repaired and enlarged under the Tran, Le and Mac Dynasties. The pagoda is famous near and far for its two fleshly statues (burial statues) of two Zen masters Vu Khac Tuong and Vu Khac Minh (two monks who lived at the pagoda in the 17th century).
